I’m not exactly big on holidays. I’m sure that will change when I have children, but I don’t exactly have strong emotional attachments to Easter, Halloween, Christmas, or even birthdays. That being said, I think the birth, life, death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is something worthy of pontification, reflection, and reverence. It’s good for the soul, proper to do for a Hero, and an orienting force in a community. ...

Paul writes to Timothy: But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. and Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. I figure since Halloween is right around the corner, there’s no better time than right now to tell my one and hopefully only encounter with a malevolent spirit. Take away from it what you will. During my time at college I was staying at my grandfather’s place. It made for a fairly decent walk from there to Chaminade University, and I got to hang with him and my uncle. Pretty much my entire time there was fairly chill, aside from some messiness here and there, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. ...

Note: I’m using “postmortem” in the way that a project manager would use it. As a software developer, that’s the usual connotation that comes to mind with that word. Yep, it’s the council of Nicea and specifically, the Nicene Creed. In my previous posts, we dealt with how Paul dealt and advised dealing with divisive/disorderly men as well as why creeds and confessions are disorienting/profane. And before we begin…well, this is my third and final post for at least this set, and I’ve spent a lot of time on the first one and it’s already Sunday, so what I’ve opted to do for the sake of time is to dump my notes that I have on my laptop here with minimal editing. ...
